Frame

Vincent painted views over
and over again

of the asylum garden
beyond his window frame,

so in love with autumn’s colours,
unable to refrain,

admitting to his brother Theo
it would be the same every day,

until autumn came tumbling
from the trees.

He would never grow weary of garden,
sky and leaves.

‘Window in the Studio’ by Vincent van Gogh, 1889

I have taken an old poem and reworked it for Susan’s weariness prompt at What’s Going On?

  1. Vincent admitted himself after he cut his ear off. We visited his confinement place at St. Remy. Provence, France for several days way back. If his window looked out to the south he would have had this view: JIM’S LITTLE BLOG

  2. Wonderful poem Yes, it is quite amazing that someone who struggles so much has such a deep and beautiful inner life which he expressed in his paintings. I have seen many of his when in the Netherlands They are beautiful
