Owl Music

Owls on a post

Well, Friday has come around quickly this week and I only managed to complete one chapter. Yes, the first draft of Chapter 8 is complete; it ended with Lily feeling betrayed by Danny and sick from the bullying at school that is only getting started. Chapter 9 is pretty much planned. I have also found another short story competition to enter. I have a few ideas, one of which is about a couple watching an owl fly and land on a post as they sit by a river. I found myself writing this poem:

Owl Music

Unique predators

Borne on serrated feathers

Skimming summer dusk

Sacrificing speed

For surreptitious slowness

Silent symphony

Owls in our garden

Silver wings in silver birch

Shadows in branches

They are often heard

Syncopated hoot and screech

Haunting hunting birds
