Elephant Skin – a new poem

kim881's avatarwriting in north norfolk

I wrote this poem after reading Cheryl Merrill’s blog on the Presidential Elephants of Zimbabwe.

Elephant Skin

Elephant skin
Is a map
Of all the places they have been
All the experiences they have had
Ingrained
Etched
In grey wrinkles,
Rubs
And stains.

the same thing happened to me.
I wrote this poem and paintings , like you. Thanks, an elephant advocate, especially for Canadian’s tortured Edmonton elephant, an artist, and blogger. barb mann

    1. I agree. It upsets me to see elephants being mistreated in zoos and circuses, as well as by cruel abusers and ivory hunters. And not just elephants..
