Alone on a bench

Alone on a bench

memories of playground days

tattooed inside eyelids

I thought you’d forgotten

a walk through silent corridors

            No, we talked incessantly

a bench

a shredded leaf

a leaking pen

            There was so much more

a fickle friend

who ran off and left me

It was you who turned your back on me

alone on a bench

I developed this from a previous poem, Playground Days, posted on 23rd September, using Helena Nelson’s ’32 ways of reviving a rejected poem’.
