My response to Margo Roby’s Poem Tryouts: More Abandoning

Decades of debris
Piles of dust and memories
Forsaken childhood
Washed up in an empty room
In a ghost-town neighbourhood
So much sorry silt
Deposited trash and guilt
Littering the bank
Of the river of lost time
Where childish innocence sank
All that’s left behind
In dark corners of the mind
Abandoned dolly
Slumped in a rusty push-chair
Besmirched with melancholy

Kim, this is beautiful and very sad at the same time. I can almost see the children by the river and hear their voices talking in the wind of time. Thank you for sharing. This is my time on your site but I can guarantee I will be back.

I enjoy the way the rhyme scheme works with the content. Nicely done ‘dolly’ and ‘melancholy’ which sound natural.
