My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Bits of Inspiration ~ Keyhole

Through a closed door keeps secrets
Until the key turns
And engages the tumblers
Unlocks possibilities

I am seriously thinking about self-publishing my poetry at the moment but am also struggling to get a children’s novel published. Too many balls and no juggling skills!

I can relate believe me. I have 2 sites on here I try to maintain, plus I have started a who done it and I have a photography business which isn’t busy like it was but I’m still busy enough. Good luck with your children’s book.

The metaphor conveys much in the limited framework of the poem. Very apt.

I think you are right.. don’t we always see them as both closed and open at the same time.. both dream and reality… a great metaphor.

Nice thoughts here, Kim. Keys can do magic with the locks.
Are you old enough to remember this early 70’s song? The refrain:
“I’ve got a brand new pair of roller skates
You’ve got a brand new key
I think that we should get together and
Try them on to see“

Oh yes, I remember singing along to it – by Melanie.

“tumblers” … that’s what you get for pressing to close to the door, spying. 🙂
