The Power of Bubbles

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille 3 – a quadrille in 44 words

Congealed crud has set on last night’s dishes

And yet, as the steaming water gushes

Detergent swirls with a globule of grease

Until a lava of foam is released

One tiny bubble escapes and floats free

A tiny transparent orb, fleeting flight of fantasy

  1. Love this.

Thank goodness for fantasy; I don’t know how else I would get through the dishes, or anything else, without it.

This is really the mark of a true poet: he/she can write about the most mundane tasks and yet make them interesting and engaging. Well done.

  2. Ha, you remind me of something I read as a child, to the effect that one is blessed if one sees the rainbows rather than the dishes in the soapy sink.
