My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille 3 – a quadrille in 44 words
Congealed crud has set on last night’s dishes
And yet, as the steaming water gushes
Detergent swirls with a globule of grease
Until a lava of foam is released
One tiny bubble escapes and floats free
A tiny transparent orb, fleeting flight of fantasy

There are days when I do enjoy the feelings of those suds… just imagine if we could just clean the worlds with such wonderful greatness.

Some bubbles work miracles, but even those bubbles yearn for a pleasant escape at times! Smiles.

Oh! I LOVE this take! And I adore those teeny tiny perfect bubbles that escape the Joy bottle after filling the sink. 🙂 Wonderful!

Love this.
Thank goodness for fantasy; I don’t know how else I would get through the dishes, or anything else, without it.
This is really the mark of a true poet: he/she can write about the most mundane tasks and yet make them interesting and engaging. Well done.

Quite beautiful, really, Kim–the Zen of dish-washing. Makes me look forward to doing dishes tonight, almost.

Ha, you remind me of something I read as a child, to the effect that one is blessed if one sees the rainbows rather than the dishes in the soapy sink.

I love those little bubbles that find the courage to leave the sink.
The last line is wonderful….”A tiny transparent orb, fleeting flight of fantasy”

I sympathise – I get eczema and rubber gloves seem to irritate it more, so I use a very gentle detergent.
