My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Tale Weaver #63 – Arrival
You fell
into my world
in a lather
of mucus and blood,
tiny and voraciously
hungry,
latching to me,
a wrinkled alien,
ready to grow into your skin.
You were tethered
by the umbilical cord,
not yet ready
for your first spacewalk;
That came a year later
in an eddy of snow.
I tugged on your wellies
and watched you go,
upright and beaming,
surrounded by ice,
one foot after the other,
your first steps in space.
You grew into your shoes,
became independent,
adventurous and confident,
a traveller to new lands.
Now you prepare
to colonise
your own world
and I wait,
anticipate
the arrival
of other aliens.

Ah Kim such a beautiful response to this prompt and a lovely account of birth and growth. Our children did enter the world as little wrinkled aliens didn’t and have grown to be such beautiful characters in themselves. Thanks so much for contributing to this weeks Tale Weaver.
