My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Writing Prompt #157 “Collage 22”
They met in the bloom of youth:
No time for love, no time for truth,
Which they kept hidden
Along with their hearts.
They met again, from time to time,
Travelling apart
But always bumping into each other,
Searching for something
In the coolness of shadows,
Holding fast
To the masks
As they passed each other by.

The quote/poem by Shel Silverstein
Masks
She had blue skin,
And so did he.
He kept it hid
And so did she.
They searched for blue
Their whole life through,
Then passed right by-
And never knew.
Your poem really connects with the quote on a deep level, bravo
