My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Writing Prompt #163 “Collage 25”

The quote “Sometimes, all you can do is lie in bed, and hope to fall asleep before you fall apart.” William C. Hannah
He dreamed he was a prince
Untangling briars
In a fairy-tale wasteland,
Breaking through
To a vertiginous
Precipice –
Swallow diving
Into a ring
Of ripples
And reflection,
Coming up on the other side
At a motel, a recreation
Of a ruined castle
Haunted by cardinals, blood red –
Only to find his princess dead.
Sometimes,
All you can do is lie in bed,
And hope to fall asleep
Before you fall apart.

No matter how you go with this collage you end up with a sense of sadness Kim and you achieved that beautifully.

Thank you, Michael. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to put together an anthology of some of the collage-inspired writing? Some of the collages are so stunning.

I’m sure Yves would support the idea too.

I loved the fluidity of this Kim and the imagery of swallow diving and coming up elsewhere in different places –
