My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Wordle #116 “July 4th, 2016”
With her apron full of starch,
Shiny walnut skin,
Plucked eyebrows over-arched,
The protean nursemaid
Probes with her proboscis
Into ears and hair,
Hoping to find something
Trampling there,
Some mini-beast
To lure into her lair.
She is no wallflower,
With her staccato voice
And piercing glower,
Checking on the nursery every hour,
Waltzing from room to room,
Churning and spreading fear and gloom
Like butter.
The substitute mummy
Rarely spits out her dummy,
But when she does get in a strop,
It’s fireworks for everyone,
She pulls out all the stops.

love this rhyming response – the probing and especially the “Churning and spreading fear and gloom
Like butter.”

She sounds like a scary Mary Poppins.
I like that!
