Liquid Blue Octave

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Poetics: Breathing in Blue also shared on Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Tuesday Platform

De (WhimsyGizmo) has inspired us with photos from her visit to Lake Tahoe – “Lake of the Sky” and, for this week’s Poetics, asks us to look up, breathe in some blue, and breathe out a poem. This photograph was taken last weekend on the Norfolk Broads.

Liquid Blue Octave

Swimming in liquid cobalt,

Reflections

Sparkle like molten glass,

Dazzling ducks as they pass,

Spilling inky swirls

And trickling purls

On the blue breath

Of the Norfolk Broads.

    1. Thank you, De. This is one of the photographs taken this weekend when my daughter and her new(ish) husband came up for the weekend to remember the fifth anniversary of my father’s death and to celebrate my sixtieth birthday – it’s tomorrow – don’t tell anyone! We hired a boat for five hours and enjoyed a rare day of heat and sun on the Broads- I got sunburn. We had a delicious meal in a local restaurant in the evening and it was wonderful.

      1. It sounds wonderful. So important to get away like that. I am so sorry for your loss, and glad you were able to spend your illustrious 60th birthday in such a beautiful blue way. 🙂

  1. Sparkle like molten glass, and Spilling inky swirls…and liquid cobalt! Beautiful. Congratulations on your birthday. What a glorious way to spend it and then to breathe out such a glorious poem. And the anniversary of your father’s death. It is good you had loved ones with you to remember. And to make new memories.

  2. Really nice, Kim. I’d like to be there, closest we’ve been is Harwich, south of Ipswich (the drive back to London was beautiful country). Those ducks are getting their most from the pretty water. Do you think they know? I do.
The pollution intensity in our Houston Ship Channel, 50 miles long, is measured by how far up the Channel the fish survive. They know also like the ducks, but too late, oops. It is never Cobalt in the dredged Buffalo Bayou part but does get clear in the Galveston Bay portion, and on out to the Gulf of Mexico.
Your picture is perfect too, for the poem.
