My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Writing Prompt August 14th: Spinning of a Story
This Sunday we’re spinning our own threads into the stories that fascinate us. I have to keep this brief as we only returned yesterday from a couple of days away to celebrate my sixtieth birthday and I put catching up on writing before catching up on unpacking and washing clothes! My inspiration for this shadorma was The Ent and the Entwife, a song recited to Merry and Pippin by Treebeard from The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Ents burrow
their roots deep into
Middle Earth,
towering
in still air, shimmering leaves
singing in the slightest breeze.

What a wonderful tribute to amazing creatures. I really wish they got a more deeper screen time.

Thank you! I agree, they didn’t get enough exposure in the film version. When I was about 11 years old and read Lord of the Rings for the first time, a friend and I made up a tune to the Ent song. I can still remember it!
