My response to dVerse Poets Pub Meeting the Bar – Form: Tanka
Toni is our host this evening and we are exploring the Tanka. I have three to share: the first is one I wrote earlier this year and the second and third have been reworked.

I love the second tanka most specially, with the turn on the spring and autumn. But all 3 are lovely Kim.
Cheers!

I could certainly use a cup of tea right now. Loved the third tanka, but all three were great.

They are all very lovely, but if you asked me to pick just one it would be the first one.

Thank you, Truedessa! That’s the one I wasn’t sure about, as it doesn’t seem to follow the structure as described by Toni.

Kim, these are just beautiful…I’m so impressed. I especially love your second sensuous tanka with the fluttering kimono.

I’m pleased you like them Gayle, although I don’t think the first one follows the rules as explained by Toni. I was hoping someone would comment on that and possibly make a suggestion 😉

When I was a little girl living with my grandparents, my grandmother had a beautiful kimono that was brought back from her uncle’s travels as a deep sea diver. It was my favourite dressing up item!

All so beautiful and things I can relate to! I’ve never had Jasmine tea, but I know the waiting tea cup well. 🙂 I enjoy most fruits including quince – even the word has a special sound. And the kimono fabric? My favorite of all because I love to weave. Thank you, Kim!

Thank you for reading and commenting! Jasmine tea is delicate and not as perfumed as you might think – not as sweet as rose petal tea. We have a very old quince tree in our garden which still produces some fruit that seems to drop when we’re not looking and the deer usually snaffle them before we get a chance!

Gosh this is an absolute treat! ❤ Especially love the images of ‘pink petals of spring unfold’ and ‘autumn’s perfumed orbs are gold’ ❤ Beautifully executed.
Lots of love,

Love the second one but LOVE the third one. The shift to the sumptuous seduction of the kimono is breathtaking – I actually let out a loud sigh!

I love the first one. Waiting for that first sip of tea – lovely in the longing for and the quiet sensuality in this. I truly like the other two very much but the first one – oh.my.goodness.
