My response to imaginary garden with real toads Little Tiny
Our task today is to be inspired by Brandi’s song to write our own verse on the subject(s) of being and/or feeling alone, building walls, glockenspiels and jingle bells, cliches and replays, or anything else “Little Tiny” brings up for us. I’m not sure about this poem, so I would appreciate any comments. 🙂
LITTLE TINY by Brandi Ediss
The jingling of the wind chimes
In the branches of our tree
Reminds me of a glockenspiel,
A resonance that seems surreal.
Its metallic tingle, like a tiny bell,
That in the wind begins to swell,
Tinkles like the glockenspiel
In Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Little Wing’,
A haunting, reverberating ring
That fills the garden with its tone
Reminding me I’m not alone.

I like how you used both rhyme and images to evoke sounds — (or, maybe another would argue, the rhyme and sounds evoke images…). For all this sound, it seems a quiet poem — you’ve captured the tiny, little in its essence – though I like that you end not alone. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reading, Stacie. Although I’m not an active gardener and prefer to let nature take its course, I love to spend time in our garden, listening to the wind chimes, watching the wildlife or just enjoying the breeze. I’m glad you picked up on that, as I wasn’t sure if it would come across. Now I know it has, I’m a happy woman!

Ohhh! I love this, the sweet rhymes and almost-rhymes, the feel and sound of it, your wonderful title. I really think we need more glockenspiel in our world (and jingle bells too). Wonderful!

I enjoyed the musicality of your lines, the resonance of the wind chimes, and especially the final line – a reminder one is not alone.
