Autumn Quadrille

Summer hangs

Tart apples on turning trees,

Spinning into autumn,

Disrobing leaves,

Motley patchworks

Of ochre and russet,

Morning mist and muted

Shades of sunset.

Fanned by the wind

With a kiss and a sigh,

A mantle of fire,

Then they fall and fly.

Autumn Quadrille 2

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille #15

It’s Monday, De is our host and we are writing quadrilles using the word leaves. I’ve been working on some old and new poems, taking them apart and reconstructing them to create two quadrilles.

  1. I love the trees when they start to change colors because then I know autumn is coming around the corner and that means cooler weather for all…plus autumn means the leaves on the trees will be reds, yellows, greens and varies colors of those in one. Thanks Kim have a good Monday and this is a good start to the week.

    1. Hi Kat! I’m so looking forward to the leaves changing colour. I’ve joined a walking group and some of the walks take us through woodland. Hope your week has started well.

    1. There ‘s already a chill in the air and the apples on our trees are ripe for picking. I’m just waiting for the leaves to turn. Thank you for reading and commenting.

  3. …..then they fall and fly. Love this line…..those beautiful crimson leaves that begin to curl at the edges fall only to be swirled overhead. Autumn winds creating autumn rainbows in the air! 🙂
