unexpected
a rare marsh fritillary
colours of autumn
flash in a butterfly’s wings
dancing in September sun

It’s not easy chasing butterflies with a camera, so I have used this image found on www.norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk
My response to Carpe Diem Tokubetsudesu #91 Ese’s Voice, our “runner-up” of the “prayers” kukai. Chèvrefeuille has given us some lovely examples of Ese’s haiku for inspiration:
silent steps –
one more candle illuminates
the old chapel
how softly it brushes
against the bare backs of mountains
a wandering cloud
two sets of footprints
disappear in the white sand
-a seagull and i
velvet touch of wings
among evergreen vines
my palm blossoms
butterfly house-
so still on the glass ceiling
does he long for the sky?
old plastic pen-
pale butterfly keeps floating
along with my memories
