Forging Morning

The sky is a confusion
Of purple contusion
And burning orange light.

Heaven and earth are forged
Together, clouds are gorged
With flames so bright

The road is gilded,
Clouds and tarmac melded
In the liquid metal aftermath of night.

    1. It was a bit of an experiment after playing around with the tritina form yesterday and today. I’ve re-written the poem about my daughter’s wedding dress as a tritina for a competition. I’ve also written an ekphrastic poem about a painting I saw at the Uffizi in Florence showing Judith slaying Holofernes, also for the competition. Unfortunately, I can’t publish them online.
