“Never say goodbye because goodbye means going away and going away means forgetting.”
― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
Farewell
until we see you again
chasing your shadowy words,
sewing them into rhyme,
watching the time
on the tick-tock crocodile clock.
Never lose your Peter Pan spirit:
in the Neverland of a virtual pub,
a drink or two
will be waiting for you.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Poetic Tuesday – Sweet Sorrow
Walt is our host for the last time for a while as he takes a break and steps away from his bartender/hosting duties at dVerse. He’s saying farewell (or at least a hearty ‘see you later’) and we are going to miss him. He has asked the question: how do you say goodbye? There are many ways to say goodbye, but which to choose? He has given us examples of slang expressions for the big bye-bye and any number of quotes to ponder, as well as his own pantoum. All he asks is that we use slang for goodbye and craft our poems, or take inspiration from one of the quotes to trigger our words of farewell!
I so much prefer farewell to goodbye… and most of all au revoir… makes me hope… love the Peter Pan image.

Well said, Kim, a bitter-sweet mixture. I like the rhyme and meter, it brings to mind some of Walt’s own poetry I’ve enjoyed very much. 🙂
