shadow silhouette
of a bird of prey ascends –
my soul leaps and soars
above spring-warmed earth heat glows
sun-silvered and bird-haunted

My response to Carpe Diem Namasté The Spiritual Way – Ascension
In this new episode, Chèvrefeuille challenges us to create haiku, tanka or another Japanese poetry form, inspired by the concept of ‘Ascension’. He has given us an explanation of the concept, which he says is very similar to the Eastern concept of Enlightenment found in Buddhism, and examples in different religions, as well as several haiku he found on the Internet.
Nice response on this “weekend-meditation” Kim. A beautiful tanka.

I like this one. I too am bird haunted – ah – to soar like the eagle.

I woke up at about five this morning and all I could hear was the patter of raindrops and birdsong!
