on the season’s brink
fiery leaves and leaden skies
the ghosts of summer

Wonderful haiku Kim. I see you also saw “ghosts” in the painting.

We already have autumn in our garden – the apples are falling and there are two orange l;eaves i the tree. Maybe the ghosts never left.

Great haiku, leaden sky’s spoiling present day summer, plus the wind. Yours inspired a few of my own:
fall… summer still hides
fickle seasons… surprises
light minds the future
trees feel the seasons
short days makes up autumns mind
summer holds falls hand
nature if able too
is all seasons guide… well once
climate change now rules

Thanks for reading and commenting, and for sharing your haiku. I especially like the second one – ‘summer holds fall’s hand 😉

Ghosts … there are several of our participants who name ghosts in their haiku … nice idea to see in the mystery of autumn the ghosts of summer …..

I think the artist’s style, the way the colour is applied, has captured autumn mists, which are quite ghostly.
