Seven Days

I live in dark corners,
a scuttling spider
drawing you to my web.
Ding dong dell,
Pussy’s in the well,
drowning in despair
and dripping hair.
The jerky gait
on the video tape
is a symptom of my pain,
reflected in the depths
of eyes that kill
or drive you insane

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Tuesday Poetics: The Voice of the Monster also linked to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Tuesday Platform.

Happy All Halllows Eve! Our poetic witch master for this auspicious day is Björn and he’s offering fresh potions from the bar’s bubbling cauldrons.  He says that tonight beasts are everywhere, crying for candy, and we must be prepared. But he also asks, what if they cannot be silenced by sweets… what if beasts are for real? Are there vampires rising from the grave tonight? Will there be zombies or werewolves? What if the sounds we hear are not from kids but ghouls and ghosts?

Tonight he wants us to consider monsters we fear and write a poem from their perspective, go into the darkness and try to imagine the anguish, the lust or the evil mind of the real monsters that keep us awake a night like this. He wants us to go deeper and present the complexity of terror – or maybe humour …

      1. I see, you can dish it out but you can’t take it! By the way, we are taking my pregnant daughter and her husband to see the stage version of The Exorcist as a birthday treat. Like me, she isn’t easily scared. When she was overdue, some friends took me to see The Shining. They were hoping my labour would start. It didn’t!

      1. It’s called The Ring, it was released in 2002, is a remake of a Japanese horror film, Ringu, and is based on a novel of the same name. You can find it on the internet – if you dare!
