Hourglass of stars,
minted in a nebula
not too far from Mars,
bloodied rust of cosmic dust
fills the sky – all-seeing eye.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Poetics: Lookin’ Up!
Lillian is our host for this Tuesday’s Poetics and she says she would like us all to look up – through the Hubble Space Telescope! She has selected four photos taken by Hubble and asks us to choose one for inspiration. I decided to write a micro poem for a macro subject.
Very nice! I was also struck by how much this looked like and eye! LOVE your description of it, especially “bloodied rust of cosmic dust”……..

I actually thought the image of that eye was a bit intimidating, and I think you mirrored that in your words too.. blood… but the I start to hear that old melody by Alan Parson’s Project…soothing

Bravo Kim! I saw an eye lurking in the bottom of an hour glass too. You made a poem out of it though!

Yes, I’ve heard this called the Eye of God nebula. I used the same photo. Nice work.

The all seeing eye… This image seems so other-worldly, watchful, knowing… beautiful piece.

Oh You gave words to my thoughts. That image certainly looks like an hour glass with an eye. The use of words “bloodied red of cosmic dust” brings the image alive!

It does look like an eye and an hour glass–sort of an image of time, all seeing eternity.
