glimmering birch bark
soul exposed on silver limbs
longing for new leaves
secrets wrapped in tender buds
to be whispered on a breeze

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Wordy Thursday with Wild Woman ~ The Tree Sisters
Sherry tells us that there is a women’s movement rising all over the world. Guided by Clare Dubois and her Board of Directors, in the U.K., Tree Sisters: Seeding for Change, aim to plant a billion trees world-wide this year, and they are well on their way.
She would like us to plant some poetic trees: love in response to hate, compassion in response to suffering, hope in response to desolation. She wants us to tell her how we feel about trees, or perhaps a special tree, or write about Mother Nature, and the effects of climate change. But she wants us to do it with hope, determination and the spirit of the women all over the world who are planting those billion trees, who are loving our world back into healing.
I LOVE this! Thank you so much! I adore the look of birch tree trunks…..and especially love your line “soul exposed on silver limbs”. Beautiful, Kim. Love the image, too.

Thank you so much, Sherry. I love our silver birch. Our neighbour says it’s too big and wants us to have it chopped down but that is not going to happen!

Birches has a special place in my heart… the silver of their bark and the early spring especially (with a carpet of wood anemones below)

What a great illustration to accompany your beautiful poem Kim. I remember them in England when I was a kid over seventy years ago.

I think it”s because trees don’t have much of a voice in winter – she can’t wait for spring.

I love birch trees. They seem to peal and weep don’t they.

They do! I wonder if willows and birch weep over the same things – we have both in our garden.

Thank you, Kerry. I was hoping to write some poetry today, as well as get some washing and ironing done for our trip next week, but we’ve been without power most of the day. It’s just come back on. I could do with a it drink now 😊
