My new job title is…

I’m a singer of songs
and narrator of stories,
bouncing and rhyming
on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
I count ducks on my fingers
and pigs on my toes,

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Rommy’s Challenge: Job Title

Rommy tells us that she works at a quirky company where the employees were asked to create their own job titles. They could be as whimsical as they wanted. Today she asks us to come up with dream job titles, being creative and whimsical, but also telling her a little about the job.

I actually do this as a volunteer at local libraries, where I am known as Bounce and Rhyme Leader.

    1. Over the past four years I’ve seen so many tiny babies grow into confident toddlers. It’s sad when they go to pre-school but sometimes they come back in the holidays. 🙂

      1. how wonderful …. to be a part of their journeys, and I can imagine the wide smiles when they do return visit, from time to time …. truly, those moments are magical –
        makes me chuckle, whenever I pop into a library, and “story time” is on, I always linger – for the words as much as just watching them so enthralled …. truly, it’s amazing.
        (yeah, yeah, I am a softie that way 😉 )

      3. that can just add another layer of richness and experience, and since sound is now a scientifically proven “first of the first” relation-to-the world for us, as a species, and is truly of utmost importance in our growth and development, it just offers another amazing layer to toddlers and babies learning from sounds (spoken words) and sights (pictures) …. so add music? oh, how delightful and special!

    1. I’ve been doing it since I retired, Bjorn, as well as school visits and other activities at the library, and I think we all enjoy ourselves very much. 🙂

  17. That’s a nice job, Kim. Our granddaughter would attend those in the St. John’s Wood Library which looked a lot like this one. They lived on the end of Abbey Road, between Circus and Groves End Streets. Near the Cricket Stadium (and Paul McCartney’s London House.
    ..

    1. I’m usually one of the libraries two mornings a week and I listen to infants reading at two local schools three times a week. This morning I;’m running Chatterbooks, which happens once a month, and today we’re reading and doing fun activities with books about inventions and discoveries. Retirement isn’t boring at all!
