a dappled footpath
inviting us to explore
secrets of shadows

My daily response to Carpe Diem Summer Retreat 2018 Finding the Way
At Carpe Diem, it’s time again for the traditional seasonal retreat: a period of 30 days in which the goal is to write a daily haiku or tanka about a theme. In this year’s Summer Retreat the theme is ‘Finding the Way’.
These kinds of paths are my favorite. As I am walking through the many parks in my hometown or the forests around it than I love to walk these paths.

to explore the shadows … in the wilds, is always a blessing – as long as one doesn’t have to venture too far into the deep darkness of the absolute wilderness! how lovely … I really love the word “dapple” … it just suggests so much … yet within a comfort zone 🙂

Thank you, Pat. I’ve never really been in the wilds, only forests in Germany and the UK. I can’t imagine what it must be like in really wild places with dangerous animals, insects and such like. I’d love that but I’d also be scared. As a tree lover, dapple is one of my favourite words. 🙂

I can relate – I don’t mind moderate discovery, but for all the beauty and adventure of the truly wild places? I’d be freaking out for all the “dangerous” elements …. so I don’t think I’d be at all able to enjoy the experience. LOL
