Missing Pieces

Earth is a puzzle
of constantly changing
shapes and landscapes;
we are missing some pieces
from the cosmic jigsaw
as we spin and see-saw
through space.
It’s being pulled apart
by the human race.
How can we put
our Humpty Dumpty planet
together again?

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille: Puzzle

Mish is our host this Monday and she’s been having fun finding ways to tickle our brains for the quadrille word ‘puzzle’.

She wants us to spread our words across the table and puzzle them into place, and find a way to incorporate the word ‘puzzle’ or a derivative of the word into our quadrilles.

  1. A timely post, Kim. And sadly, so true to think of our Earth as a Humpty Dumpty needing to be put back together again. Just reading of all the fires, hot hot temperatures….Somehow we need to solve this puzzle and get climate change at the front burner of everyone! 🙂

  2. LOL. I gave a lecture to a restaurant owner last night about using plastic straws. I think he was shocked but I gave him the restaurant supply store where he could order paper ones at cheaper than the plastic. Small steps but I am afraid it is too late to put Humpty together again. I feel our days are doomed. But to be honest, I don’t think the Earth will miss us when we go. A very timely write.

      1. There will probably be some fuzzy animals and insects and other critters. The world will go back to its beginnings and the streets will grow with grasss with flowers. I watched an Anthony Bourdain “Detroit” No Reservations the other night. I was struck by how the city was almost empty and the streets overgrown with vegetation and ghost gardens. It struck me as the ideal solution. Bankruptcy and white flight.

  3. “It’s being pulled apart by the human race”. How true and sad that we are own demise. I love this conscientious take on the prompt. And I agree with Glenn. I think an eco quadrille has been invented!

  4. You know what they say about all the king’s horses and all the king’s men… When the king(s) of this world are busy counting their money, Humpty Dumpty doesn’t stand much of a chance, unfortunately.
