A Quiet Place

This is a quiet place:
a collection of moments,
a still languid lake
that swallows each drop of rain
and cries tears of memories
in watery reflections.

Wistfully blue complexions
shimmer with light
and shadow, split
by the occasional
kingfisher or dragonfly,
the only chinks in a diluted sky.

My poem for Poets United Poetry Pantry

I looked back in the archives and came up with a poem I first posted in December 2015, which I have edited and updated a little. It’s a peaceful poem for a peaceful day, a reminder that summer isn’t too far away.

  1. I love the musicality of the tone, the way it flows gently until the senses are lulled in the melody. And I especially love that the only things to through the quiet and still are as welcome as the moment itself. So pretty (the words and image).
