Morning Glories

ah! morning glories
are at their best while I chant
my morning prayers

Kyoroku

by sunset they have faded
their colours smothered by night

from creeping shadows
comes the sound of ringing bells
my evening prayers

to wake to glorious blue
in sunlit sky and garden

My response to Carpe Diem #1615 Tan Renga Challenge Month 2019 (19) Morning Glory

Today is the penultimate episode of Carpe Diem’s Tan Renga Challenge Month and we have a haiku by lesser known haiku poet, Kyoroku, a disciple of Basho, with which to create a Tan Renga Hineri by adding the second stanza followed by a three line stanza and a final two line stanza.
