The Joy of Light 21-26

unseen in the dark
moths gathering round a flame
the crackle of wings

a single lantern
still burning in the window
the promise of warmth

sunlight through raindrops
nourishment for daffodils
my morning light-show

the lightness of green
willow drapes her modesty
with a new mantle

among fresh willow
feathered flashes of turquoise
diving kingfisher

cat in the window
sunlight fractures glossy fur
a twitch of whiskers

My response to Carpe Diem’s Light Retreat 2019: The Joy of Light

In a new retreat, we have a period of 30 days to create haiku and tanka on the theme of The Joy of Light. As I will have intermittent access on my Kindle for the next six days, I’ve written ahead so as not to miss any.
