thistle barely bends
buoyant with the blue tit’s song
in every season

My response to Carpe Diem #1770 Tomtit
In the last week of our festive 7th anniversary month, today we have another small creature, the blue tit. While the English word ‘tomtit’ can refer to pretty much any of various tits, especially the blue tit, it is also Cockney rhyming slang for the depositing of human bodily solids, so I’m referring to the bird as blue tit, which is smaller than the great tit and has slightly different colouring: a white head with a blue patch on top and a black stripe through the eye. Both birds have yellow bellies.
