Holding up my
purring cat to the moon
I sighed.

cup of hot tea in my hand
purring with the cat

My response to Carpe Diem #1778 Free-styling haiku
In a new episode of Carpe Diem’s ‘Never Change A Winning Team’ month, in which we celebrate the beauty of haiku, we have a free choice: a special haiku that means a lot to us, a favourite haiku written by a classical or non-classical haiku poet, or one of your own masterpieces. All we have to include in our post is why we chose it – and the challenge is to create a new haiku inspired by our haiku of choice.
I chose the Jack Kerouac haiku because I like his approach to haiku and I love cats, I have two of my own. My haiku is about a real moment this morning. The photos I took of Mojo looking out of the rainy window didn’t turn out well, so I’ve used one I found on Pinterest.
Very nice haiku and a very suggestive photo !
