Other People’s Ghosts

They’re whispers of promises
to stay and watch over you,
and never leave your side.

They may be in wrong places
or different times, not yours
but someone else’s.

There’s no need to be afraid
of an old promise made
by someone long dead.

Lillian is hosting the Monday Quadrille at the dVerse Poets Pub this week, and she’s on a promise. Yes, the word to include in our 44-word poems is ‘promise’. I won’t be here for Halloween, so I went a little spooky.
