Tea

On my lap,
is a warm cat,
no cuckoo in the nest,
and in my hand
my favourite cup
of cranberry and raspberry,

a fruity burst on the tongue,
never unfit for purpose,
warmth spreading from mouth
to the cockles of my heart,
heightening the senses.
All around me is calm.

I breathe.
A poem blooms from the leaves.

On Day 6 of NaPoWriMo, the daily resource is the online tour section of the Louvre, while the optional prompt asks us to pick a number between 1 and 10, then find it in the chart provided. Our challenge is to write a poem describing the taste of the item in Column A, using the words that appear in that row in Column B and C. For bonus points, we should give our poem the title of the word that appears in Column A, but we must not use that word in the poem itself. I chose my lucky number 4 and reworked an old draft from 2018.
