The air is heavy with aromatic leafy tangle
in the waking woods,
where boughs and twigs are sprouting green,
pale at first,
and richer by the day.
Here and there, floral notes pervade,
pink clouds of blossom
and bluebell carpets colouring up the scene.
Kim M. Russell, 5th May 2025

It’s Monday and, at the dVerse Poets Pub, time for that poetic dance devised by dVerse and known as the Quadrille. This week Mish is our host with the prompt word ‘tangle (untangle, detangle, disentangle, disentanglement, entanglement, entangle, etc. or creative hyphenation).
“aromatic leafy tangle
in the waking woods”
Now that captures the senses just so, Kim, and it’s a heady richness of scent and sight that you give us. Lovely.

So many tangles to discover in nature and I love that you went there with this fresh, springy quadrille. Those “bluebell carpets” are so inviting.

I love the reference of the bluebells. They are currently coloring the scene here as well. Lovely setting.

Your first sentence hooked me, Kim! Such a lovely sensory walk. 💙
When I was out walking this morning, I was thinking how good it smelled. There had been a little bit of rain and so many flowers in bloom.

Thank you, Merril. We not only have woods nearby, we have a woody garden, and as much as I want to move closer to my daughter, I would miss Norfolk, our house and garden terribly.

You’re welcome, Kim! Norfolk sounds so lovely from what you always say and from what I’ve read. I don’t blame you for wanting to stay there!
