It is the music of a people

(a golden shovel)

Can you hear it
filling the air today? The melody is
a memory of what we once were and the
beating of wings and rushing of air is music
we feel in our hearts and souls. Words of
despair are replaced with a
growing defiance: power to the people.

Wednesday’s come around again, and at What’s Going On? Mary has shared a song from Les Miserables entitled ‘Do you hear the people sing?’

Mary would like us to either just be inspired by the music and the message as a whole, or use one of the lines in the song, of which she has provided the words, in our own poems.  I chose to write a golden shovel using this line: ‘It is the music of a people’.

  1. Perfectly said, Kim. “What we once were” and hope to be again. The power is in the people, ultimately, though it doesnt feel like it right now.

  2. I hope you are right, Kim, that words of despair are being replaced by words of defiance, and after that….I hope….will be action! I really liked the image you shared! Thanks for participating, Kim.

Powerful image. I like the idea of transformation in your golden shovel. Enough said. Let it be.

  4. Indeed, power to the people! Provided people are brave enough to wield that power. Casting a valid, thoughtful vote at elections is a first step. Speaking out is another and lastly, we should remember that citizens of a country should not fear the government, but rather the government should fear the wrath of the people!
