A Quadrille of Rose Petals

They bloomed vividly
in sunlight,
until a wind shook up
clusters of roses,
snatched them
from the fragile bush
and dashed them
on the grass.
This scattering of petals
concealed unwritten words,
romance in corollas;
despite the thorns and storms,
spilled poetry and perfume.
