Pivoting Peacefully

Pivoting peacefully from one
to another ghost from the past,

I see life through different lenses:

some bring regrets close up
like a microscope,

and others distance me from memories
I don’t want to forget.

But then there’s the present:

the poems waiting for me to write,
the grandsons I want to see grow up,

and I pivot towards peace of mind.

It’s Tuesday and time for Poetics at the dVerse Poets Pub, this week with Melissa, who challenges us to write poems about pivotal moments. She has shared poems by Wendell Berry, Assotto Saint and Dorothy Parker to inspire us to write our own poems about pivotal moments in our lives, where the pivot took us, and the feelings evoked by the development and how we managed all of it.

The ability to pivot peacefully from one ghost to another is a blessing. When we truly let go of the past, it enables us to live fully in the present. I love the picture of your grandsons!

    1. Thank you, Melissa! Louie is talking now, it took him a long time, but today on a video call he said ‘I miss Nanny’. I got a bit tearful, especially as I’ve lost my voice and he couldn’t hear me. Made my day.

  2. You depict how we are each the bridge between the memories of that which made us and that of us which we have created to carry forward into the future – lovely, Kim…
