Golden haired and violet eyed,
Running and jumping by my side,
A happy child, with a smile so wide.
I missed her when she left our home,
New life, new friends, her childhood done,
Nervous that my bird had flown.
Excited that she found her man; pride,
Elation when she became a bride,
Laughing and beaming at her husband’s side.
Lovely daughter, now a mother of two sons,
Exceptional and loyal. My job is almost done;
Now I am a grandmother, I have all the fun.

This Thursday I am hosting Meeting the Bar at the dVerse Poets Pub and we are writing acrostic name poems, which tell about a name, using the letters of the name for the first letter of each line, and they can be as simple or complex as we wish to make them. I’ve given some classic examples to show how it’s done.
The challenge is to write a name acrostic for someone in the public eye, a loved one or even oneself, using the full name, if possible. It can be romantic, humorous, political, and in any form.
Lovely tribute to your daughter! : )

Love this. This makes me happy. Grandparents do get to have all the fun—and send the kids back.🤭

Thanks Melissa. I just wish I lived closer to them, it’s always a tricky journey by train – and I always come back having caught something from the boys. This time it was a chest infection.

I don’t miss the preschool days / beginning years of school for my kids. It seemed like it was unending illness.

It’s not so bad when you spend all your time with children. While I was still teaching, I got sore throats but never chest infections.

This is very cool, the name well hidden unless you are looking for it.

Your affection for your dear daughter comes through clearly, Kim. Will try to write to this prompt if I can find time.
