Not yet full,
she continues to
grow
and glow,
her petals unfold,
silver and slow,
unscented
in the night’s dome.
Anchored to Earth
she cannot roam
but she will wax gibbous
among constellations,
a single bloom
until she wanes and fades
a flower moon.
Kim M. Russell,4th May 2026

It’s the first Monday in May and, at the dVerse Poets Pub, we are writing quadrilles with Lillian – the word is ‘bloom’.
Had to look up “gibbous”….and wow! What an illustration. Love this ending:”a single bloomuntil she wanes and fadesa flower moon.”
I shall look at the full moon a bit differently now. 🙂

I love the ending… it was so unexpected that it was a moon (so sad that she didn’t have a scent)

I adore moon poems. I tried to catch a glimpse of the flower moon last Friday night but too many clouds rolled in.
