Carol Ann Duffy, eat your words –
your mum posed like Marilyn,
but mine looked like her.

While your mother posed in a Marilyn stance,
mine had the blonde hair
and knew how to dance.

I inherited Mum’s nature and the blue of her eyes,
but all I got from Marilyn was her dress size!
