Scribbling on my Soul

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Open Link Night # 167 – a poem I wrote and posted last September, that kind of sums up my writing.

The scratching of the pen

Won’t stop

It echoes through my dreams

And lifts my eyelids

With the urgency

Of birth

Ideas invade

Exploding crocuses

That reach out

For an inkling of light

But

Shadows shackle me

To sleep

Draw me back down

Below the surface

Until the poem

Remains a scribble

On my soul

  1. Oh that those ideas that seek expression in the middle of the night could find their way into poetry. Hopefully the words which are ‘scribbles on the soul’ will find their way……
