My response to the Secret Keeper’s Weekly Writing Prompt #34
Each spring, toads leave hibernacula,
Take a trip from rock crevices,
Leaf piles and drains to gather
In ponds, streams and rivers,
Some with eyes of fire.
Writhing webbed feet
Melt my heart,
Make me
Smile.

It makes me smile, too, because my sister and I have a joke about frogs (toads are close enough). 🙂
