Stone and Bone

My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Music Prompt #46: “What’s Left of the Flag” by Flogging Molly

Crossing the borders of sanity

Into lands unknown,

Losing hope of humanity,

Braving the future alone.

Bearing the flag of freedom,

Tattered and wind-blown;

Grasping at remnants of reason

In a handful of stone and bone.

Craving for crumbs of comfort,

Someone to call your own,

In the midst of loneliness,

The wastes and wilderness

Of your personal combat zone.
