Slow and deep
By the overgrown bank of sleep,
Dreams slip, cold and slow-moving,
Bearing dead leaves, a floating feather;
Fantasy distilled by the flow of water.
Emerging from the river and darkness of a dream,
A dragonfly shimmers its way upstream;
Demoiselles dance in moonlight;
Fish rise and ripple in starlight.
On the surface, icy water splashes;
Underwater, morning’s lighthouse flashes.

Goodness, you had me from that beautiful image! I love the image of emerging from a dream, the dragonfly — the dance in the moonlight and the fish rippling like starlight — intoxicating! Another wonderful poem Kim. Thanks for sharing.

That image is arresting, but your poem holds its own with its sense of deep longing. Really nice.
