Opening sleepy eyes,
The openness of a new day
Breaks through the slats
Of the blind –
Not blind but open.
Opening mouth,
Taking a breath
At the wide open window,
Opening lungs, mind and soul.
Each day is a gift
To be opened.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Opening to the Muse–dVerse Quadrille #16
Victoria has been thinking about the word OPEN and has chosen it for this week’s Quadrille. She says that there are so many ways of considering these four little letters and gave examples of a few of the ways we can use it:
• Adjective: accessible, available, ajar, candid, exposed, frank, forthright, unlocked.
• Noun: openings, openness, the open (outdoors), opener.
• Verb: open the mind, the door, the heart, the mouth.
• Adverb: openly.
Victoria has asked us to open our notebooks, computers and creative spirits to bring forth a Quadrille of exactly 44 words—no more, no less.
