A little Thursday whimsy
I may be very small
But I’m not afraid at all
In the face of heffalumps and woozles,
Nor will I be bamboozled
By gravel pits, mist and floods.
I survived a North Pole Expotition
And I’m the subject of a composition:
A song with seven verses
About my gallant rescue
Of Owl and Winnie the Pooh.
If only I could learn to spell my name,
Grow quite a bit taller than Roo
And present Eeyore
With an inflated birthday balloon.

My response to imaginary garden with real toads Sidekicks in the Spotlight
For today’s prompt, we are creating poems that take peripheral or sidekick characters from any book (comic or otherwise), legend, film or TV show, and give them a voice. We’re free to choose outside the superhero genre; writing about how Krypto the Super Dog spends his days at Superman’s Fortress of Solitude when the Man of Steel isn’t around is just as fine as writing about how Mary Benet copes with being the middle child, literally and metaphorically, between headstrong Lizzie and shallow Lydia. It must be a new poem created for this prompt.
Kim — Oh, sweet, adorable little Piglet! Thanks for the whimsical trip — love that she (or is Piglet a he? I’m not sure) has no fear of the heffalumps & woozles! Such fun. 🙂 Thanks for sharing. (My 6 yr old still sleeps with his Pooh Bear every night…)

I still love reading about Pooh, Piglet and all. I loved The Tao of Pooh, too!

This brought all kinds of smiles to my face, Kim. I love the truthiness of it. I love that it is perfect to read to a child. And I love, love, love that it reminds us that without the sidekicks (in reality and in fiction) life just wouldn’t be complete.
