My response to Carpe Diem #1084 Serenade (Schubert)

Chèvrefeuille  says that a beautiful haiku or tanka, or a beautiful piece of music can bring him to tears but also to big smiles. A haiku he wrote recently that brought him to tears was the following:

morning dew
evaporates at sunrise
a skylark’s song

He wrote it as a response to the death-poem by Jane Reichhold, conveying the sadness and sorrow for the loss of his co-host as well as the disappearing of the early sunrise. Chèvrefeuille says that his haiku could be a serenade – like today’s piece of music by Franz Schubert, which inspired the following tanka:

a new day rises
birds sing their own little song
leaves joining
the mountain stream babbles forth
reflecting the sun beams … a light show
