this summer morning
I whisper happy birthday
your ghost vanishes
Kim M. Russell, 2017

My response to Carpe Diem #1214 dawn
In a new episode of Haiku Kai, Chèvrefeuille has brought us another modern kigo for summer, taken from Jane Reichhold’s A Dictionary of Haiku, dawn. Mine is rather personal.
I would also like to invite everyone to visit Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, link your haiku and join a very friendly community of haiku poets.
This is so quietly lovely. Those anniversaries are always there. Sending love.

A fragile beauty with a nicely done fragment and phrase way of writing.

Very lovely, Kim. I often diligently avoid getting on those anniversary trains. One year ago…five years ago…Mom would be…He would be…they can be overwhelming if you let them. This is a lovely way to see them. Thank you.
